In some special cases, the LabNotebook database was corrupted, but not all files were lost. We can use these files to rebuild the LabNotebook database so that we can recall the saved data and measurements. In these documents, we will introduce you to the specific practices.

When we create a new record in LabNotebook, the oscilloscope automatically saves the following data:
Binary data file (*.trc), including all waveform data displayed

Setting file (*.lss) set by the oscilloscope at that time

Figure 1 shows the file structure defined by LabNotebook. The first level file is MyLabNotebook.zip, which contains a folder called Default and a LabNotebook.ini file, which is the same in all LabNotebook databases. In the Default file, you'll find a number of folders corresponding to the records in the LabNotebook database, in which you include binary data files, image files, setup files, and index files.

If you want to use LabWorker's "Save Data to" function to save a record, you can't determine the correspondence between the saved data and the subfolders in the Default folder, which can be done by index file (*.xml) Checked.

Rebuilding the LabNoteBook Database The easiest way to rebuild the LabNotebook database is to create a file structure on the hard disk, copy all the data files and the MyLabNotebook.ini file to the appropriate folder, and then use the 7-Zip and WinZip software. These files are compressed to .zip.

An additional point to note about this approach is that for each LabNotebook database, there is an index file (.ini). If your LabNotebook database is named MyLabNotebook.zip, the name of the index file is MyLabNotebook.ini.

The oscilloscope uses this index file to display all the records in the database. If you manually change the database file, the corresponding index file must also be rebuilt or updated.

To update the index file (.ini), you can delete the old index file and then re-load the LabNotebook database file (.zip) using the oscilloscope's LabNoteBook program. The LabNotebook program will rebuild the index file. If the index file exists, it is not deleted. This method cannot update the contents of the index file.
Locate lost LabNotebook records

In the unlikely event that LabNotebook records cannot be recalled, there are two ways to help recover the data. The first method is to create a new LabNotebook and then use the export function in the LabNotebook tool to import data from the problematic database to the new one. Database. Using this method, you can create a new record link in the new database.

There is also a situation where the data has been saved but not imported into the LabNotebook database. To verify this possibility, look for a folder named LabNotebookTemp in the hidden folder D:\Temp, which contains the missing data. If you can find it, you can use the above method to create a new LabNotebook database and then import the data into a new database.
