Apple actively promotes Micro LED technology
According to Taiwan media reports, Apple is currently negotiating with Taiwanese company PlayNitride to jointly develop Micro LED screens. PlayNitride has successfully developed a Micro LED screen called PixeLED. In fact, Apple was very interested in PlayNitride company early, but did not complete the acquisition. From the current situation, Apple is likely to work with PlayNitride to develop Micro LED technology.
OLED is currently the most mature self-luminous technology
PlayNitride is currently licensed by the executive branch to build a factory in Hsinchu Science Park in northern Taiwan to produce MicroLED screens. In 2015, the first report mentioned that Apple began to be interested in MicroLED screen technology. At that time, Apple Taiwan also opened a secret laboratory to develop this display technology. Since then, Apple has continued to shrink the size of Taiwan's laboratories and transferred research and development to its headquarters.
