"AI+ Travel" Round Table: L4 driverlessness is not optimistic after ten years

July 15 news, sponsored by Netease Technology, NetEase smart hosting "2017 Netease future technology summit AI + travel" special venue held this afternoon. In the roundtable forum, Pony.com founder Peng Jun, Pang.ai.ai Founder Peng Jun, Assistant of the CEO of Quanhua Zhilian Group, Yi Baoshao Founder & CEO Qin Yu, Tuosen Future Co-founder, COO Hao Jianan, and Blue Ventures Executive Director Cao Yu. Chen Daozhuo of the China and Swedish Traffic Safety Center, Assistant Dean of the Beihang Institute of Transportation Technology and Engineering, and Dr. Tian Daxin, Ph.D. supervisor, and Zhao Chen, Managing Partner of Plug and Play China, shared their views on driverless driving.

Radar device problem

According to Chen Chaozhuo of the Swedish Traffic Safety Center in China, whether it is a laser radar or a millimeter radar or a camera, it is difficult to fully achieve obstacle recognition after the L4 and L5 levels, and it is difficult for artificial intelligence to determine the intention of the person ahead.

Peng Jun, the founder of Pony.com, believes that all sensors are indispensable, because in the current situation, it is still difficult for all sensors to be placed on 100%, and different sensors actually have their own. Advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, Peng Jun proposes a sensor fusion solution.

Tuo’s future co-founder and COO Hao Jianan believes that different sensors have their own characteristics. For commercial scenarios, they will choose to accept within the cost range. Then according to this limitation, they will continue to tap the potential of their sensors, and then Go to reach the goal.

Cao Yu, executive director of BlueChip, said that the focus of the entire autopilot industry has changed, and sensor integration is the direction that all teams are currently looking at, because everyone wants to realize the needs of the scene and to be able to form this demand. A comprehensive set of solutions.

For autopilot landing problems, Qin Yu, the founder and CEO of the Transcend Zhilian Group's assistant president and CEO, believes that the effect of drone driving once applied in the logistics field or its value may exceed the field of travel. He said that the application of driverless technology in the field of logistics is not necessarily the direction in which drivers are eliminated from labor. It is more to liberate the driver and liberate the driver from the tedious driving that takes a long time to open.

Problems favored by capital

Zhao Chen, managing partner of Plug and Play in China, stated that some technologies that include laser radar, sensors, and the use of automotive aftermarket products, including drivers’ driving habits to draw maps, require a very high professional team. This is exactly what BAT lacks. This kind of startup team has a very high financing amount.

Cao Yu said that the ideal model jumped out of the area where the engineers of the Internet were most adept at, and control was the most difficult layer. The team that entered from the model was still chasing the direction of Google Tesla. Therefore, Lan Chie is more inclined to cut into this environment in the early days, choose a complete OEM that thinks about the system, and finally give the vehicle to the consumers, including how the price of this vehicle reaches the consumers and the whole chain runs through. Incorrect.

In addition, Lan Chi is also looking for a team with such thinking angles or technical ability to achieve the needs of the core scene and the needs of core users into the entire market.

Supply chain role issues

Qin Yu said that the role of the entire supply chain is actually a service provider. Qin Yu made a metaphor, the business is divided into upper body lower body, the upper body is the user, brand, transaction on the tall stuff, these tall things must bear the lower body, the lower body is the supply chain and logistics.

Tian Daxin said that colleges and universities come from a purely commercial perspective to talk about the supply chain, and another perspective is now being pushed by the country's Internet demonstration area based on smart mobile smart vehicles and only traffic demonstration areas.

Peng Jun mentioned that Pony Zhixing is driven by goals, and the ultimate goal is to make it possible to make a decent car that can run in the streets and lanes.

Chen Zhuochao believes that the host plant at the top of the food chain, Tler2, Tler3, Tler4, this model of vehicle repair will be maintained, but if it comes back to the point of view of smart travel, sharing, perhaps the host factory is the supplier, perhaps the top of the food chain. Even if it is a smart trip later, the boundaries between L1 and L2 (first-tier suppliers and second-tier suppliers) are not obvious. The top OEM may directly deal with the second-tier suppliers and even chip suppliers to determine a technical solution. .

Hao Jianan thinks that there is a high level of driverless driving. Even if today's technology itself is not one, there are mature solutions that we can all recognize. So if we solve this problem, we will stand on the entire supply chain.

Team capture problem

Cao Yu said that he has been concerned about the market opportunities that may be brought about by various kinds of dividends and bonuses. “We spent a lot of time looking at general-purpose technologies in the past few years, but in the next two years we may have more time to dig deep into the scene. We need to understand and dismantle these scenarios as a commercial solution. And the team that executed the floor to find out in the market, I think this is the focus of this two-year work." Cao Yu believes.

Zhao Chen indicated that contacting many teams is a team that has just come out of the company or even just emerged from scientific research institutions. On the one hand, he hopes to better guide the early capital and early docking projects to help these projects to better make the products more quickly iterative. On the other hand, from the understanding of the needs of large companies, we hope to help many big companies, including Bosch, Daimler, etc., to help them to add the latest in traditional business engines.

L4 landing time problem

Qin Yu believes that in the field of logistics, driverless driving is not the business goal it pursues. Facing customers, improving customer experience, and allowing customers to receive the best logistics services, this is the meaning of driverlessness in the logistics industry.

Tian Daxin believes that 2030 is a more reasonable node and there are more than a decade. In this regard, Peng Jun believes that driverless running in all the streets of Beijing, 2030 may be too early.

Chen Chaozhuo also believes that it is still optimistic that point-to-point L4 and L5 time is up to 2030. Hao Jianan thinks that doing an L4 in urban roads may be really a matter of 10 years or even longer, especially considering that if it is a road like Beijing, doing L4 is a very long thing.

Zhao Chen believes that in the next 3-5 years, companies like Google and Uber will have some unmanned vehicles that are close to the L4 level, whether they are picking up passengers or delivering goods.

On July 15, 2017 Netease Future Technology Summit was held in Beijing.

The theme of this year’s NetEase Future Technology Summit “New Life” is to point out that the Internet industry is recovering from the capital winter that has spread for two years. Large companies are accelerating reforms. Unicorns are emerging in an endless stream. Young entrepreneurs are catching up and reborn. The Internet has brought a whole new future.

This year's NetEase Future Science and Technology Summit set up six forums: New Technology, New Future, New Content, New Entertainment, New Consumption, AI+ Finance, AI+ Travel, AI+ Life, and AR Future. We invited the most outstanding scientists, entrepreneurs, investors and cross-border stars at home and abroad to discuss the future of artificial intelligence, consumer upgrading and AR.
