Earlier this month, security researcher Justin Case found that a software security vulnerability exists in some Android smartphones and tablets that use MTK chips, which can cause security attacks on devices.
MediaTek subsequently responded that the vulnerability exists in devices running the Android 4.4 KitKat system. It was originally a debugging function developed for China Telecom's interoperability testing, but mobile phone manufacturers did not disable it before shipping.

Although MediaTek is already addressing this security breach, some smartphones and tablets have not been fixed. These devices can now be rooted with a single software operation, and the attacker will then be able to obtain private data from the device or remotely monitor all network activity of the device.
Currently, MediaTek has confirmed the existence of the vulnerability and said their security team is addressing the issue. However, MediaTek declined to disclose the affected device models and brands, and insisted that only some brands of equipment have this problem, they have also begun to warn the affected manufacturers.
