CES 2017: Samsung recognizes Gear VR sales of 5 million units from Baidu VR

At a press conference held during CES, Samsung announced that Gear VR sales have reached 5 million units so far.

Tim Baxter, president of Samsung Electronics (USA), said that 360-degree video viewed by consumers in VR reaches 10 million hours, and users use Gear 360 cameras to shoot more and more content.

Last year, Oculus stated that 1 million users use Gear VR in only one month, and it has indeed grown tremendously to reach 5 million units in less than one year. In the Christmas discount season just past, some promotional activities also contributed to sales of VR devices.

Although HTC Vive, Oculus, and PS VR are all reported to be accurate sales, there is no doubt that the sales volume of Gear VR 5 million units not only shows consumers' interest in VR, but also enhances the developer's confidence in VR.
