Liard's wholly-owned subsidiary participates in US SAPHLUX, INC

(hereinafter referred to as "SAPHLUX") signed the "Equity Subscription Agreement" and has completed the delivery.

On February 14, 2017, Liard's wholly-owned subsidiary, Liard Hong Kong, signed an Equity Subscription Agreement with LED chip material company SAPHLUX. Liad Hong Kong invested US$3.5 million to subscribe for 1,501,220 AA preferred shares of SAPHLUX. , accounting for 14% of SAPHLUX's total share capital.

SAPHLUX produces semi-polar gallium nitride crystals. The company can selectively grow gallium nitride material on a specific crystal surface on a sapphire substrate through a special process, and has high quality, low stacking fault, large batch size, and the cost is basically equivalent to the existing common gallium nitride crystal. Yuan is the first LED material company in the industry with commercial grade semi-polar material production capacity.

It is understood that Professor Han Zhong, co-founder and chief scientist of SAPHLUX, is the head of the electronics department at Yale University. He has been engaged in the research and development of LED materials for more than ten years and is a well-known top expert in the field of GaN.

After more than 20 years of development, traditional LED luminescent materials have reached the technical bottleneck, including the decline of quantum efficiency at high power and the low light efficiency of green light band, which seriously restricts the further development of solid-state lighting technology. It is believed that the semi-polar gallium nitride material can effectively solve the above two problems.

Professor Yuan's original directional epitaxial growth technology is capable of growing a specific direction of semi-polar gallium nitride on a standard sapphire substrate. This is the first time that industrial grade production of this material has been realized, making next-generation LED illumination possible.

Since the angel investment of Zhenge Fund in February 2015, the company has started the first-scale trial production of semi-polar materials, and the semi-polar GaN materials produced by the company have been provided to benchmark companies in many LED industries. In research and development experiments.

The financing of this round of SAPHLUX will be used to expand capacity and further optimize the process to meet the large-scale R&D and production needs of downstream customers.

After the technology is mature, the company's products will be widely used in high-power LED lighting including automotive headlights, flashlights, and MLED mobile displays, semiconductor lasers and other fields.
