A new survey shows that smart home appliances are the most popular connected device, but less than 10% of people use multiple connected devices to access the same application.
Most people (64%) said that they do not rely on connected devices to complete daily activities. This proportion is 36% who said they rely on devices to spend their daily lives twice as much.

Most people (64%) said that they do not rely on connected devices to complete daily activities. This proportion is 36% who said they rely on devices to spend their daily lives twice as much. A new survey by Clutch, a leading B2B research, rating and review company, found that 67% of people with connected devices own smart home appliances, such as smart refrigerators, ovens or TVs.
A new survey from B2B research company Clutch found that smart appliances are the most popular connected devices:
The Clutch survey found that more than 60% of connected device owners do not know or are not sure whether their data can be shared among multiple devices.
About one-third (35%) have wearable devices, and 27% have smart assistants such as Google Home or Amazon Echo.
Most people use connected devices to access important information every day
Sixty-four percent (64%) of people use their connected devices every day; it is usually used to access important personal information about health, family, and news.
Nearly 40% of respondents said that access to important information is the main benefit of using connected devices.
Many users are unsure whether personal data can be shared across multiple devices
People who allow connected devices to access personal information (such as health data) allow third parties to use this data.
People's uncertainty about how to share data across devices has exacerbated concerns about data security and privacy.
Forty percent (40%) said they knew that their data was shared across multiple connected devices, but 29% said they did not know whether their data could be shared across devices.
People don't connect their IoT devices to each other
Only 9% of people use their connected devices in a connected way: access the same application from multiple connected devices.
One reason people do not connect multiple Internet of Things or "smart" devices to the same application is because some smart devices are not compatible with each other. This challenge is particularly obvious in smart home appliances.
Lack of compatibility can create obstacles for ordinary users who do not have the skills, patience, or budget to create a network of separate devices.
When considering whether to buy network equipment in the future, this obstacle will dispel people's enthusiasm for buying. More than half of the respondents (53%) said that they do not plan to buy connected equipment next year.
Clutch conducted a survey of 503 people to understand their connected equipment, use cases and purchase plans.
