According to reports, the UK has launched a new project called “Gravia†to explore the feasibility of producing graphene-encapsulated films for use in next-generation flexible O led lighting and display products.
After a year of hard work, Gravia project partners expect to provide a viable material and process system by the end of the project. Utilizing the unique properties of graphene, the project aims to acquire a flexible, transparent, strong, waterproof barrier material.
The key challenge of the project was to develop a large-area polycrystalline graphene film that would maximize its performance while also compensating for process deficiencies. In this way, researchers can develop large-scale, economically viable solutions in the future.
The Gravia project is supported by InnovateUK and EPSRC, and the project funding is provided by the Process Innovation Center (CPI), FlexEnable, Cambridge University and the National Physical Laboratory.
