In terms of shipments, AUO's large-size panel shipments in December 2011 reached approximately 8.6 million units, down 5.9% month-on-month. Small and medium-sized panels shipped approximately 15.42 million units in December, up 6% monthly. Overall shipments of large-size panels in the fourth quarter exceeded 26.78 million, a decrease of 9.8% in the quarter, but a year-on-year decrease of 4.4%. In the fourth quarter, shipments of small and medium-sized panels approached 46.46 million, a decrease of 10.7% in the quarter and an annual decrease of 12.1%.
Accumulated for the whole year, AUO's large-size panel shipments in 2011 exceeded 114 million, still increasing by 1% annually. In 2011, the shipments of small and medium-sized panels for the whole year were close to 187 million, down about 15% annually. The main reason is that AUO adjusts the structure of small and medium-sized panel products, and develops toward higher unit price projects, such as larger-sized smart phone panels, vehicle panels, and so on.
