It is questioned by experts who have been arranging for LED street lights everywhere.

When depicting the LED industry, many people seem to have seen a bright future—“It is expected that in 2015, LED’s market share in China’s lighting market will reach 20%, driving the industry to reach 500 billion yuan. Will enter the top three global LED lighting market."

The output value of 500 billion yuan is the camphor?

In May 2009, the Ministry of Science and Technology organized 10 cities through the application demonstration project of LED in municipal lighting. Each city promoted the application of LED function lighting more than 10,000 baht. This plan is called “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities”. . Since then, the number of cities that have joined the program has increased, but to this day, the promotion of LED street lights has heard many doubts.

42 cities participate in the "Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities"

In 2010, in November, the Guangzhou Asian Games, whether it was the opening ceremony or the closing ceremony, the "light feast" was amazed.

Obviously, the Guangzhou Asian Games will push the LED to its peak. For a time, praises such as “green”, “energy saving” and “high-tech” have become synonymous with LED, and the LED light shines everywhere.

"Since last year, the domestic LED market has suddenly been extremely optimistic. The domestic and overseas investment and mergers and acquisitions of upstream and downstream enterprises have accelerated, and state-owned capital and private capital have also entered." At the press conference of the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition held recently, one Insiders said quietly: "Traditional lighting companies have spotted this unexplored treasure, and all kinds of LED lighting products have flooded the market."

This is another round of LED investment after the “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand Cities” promulgated by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2009. According to the plan two years ago, the goal of “Ten Cities and Ten Thousands” semiconductor lighting application project is: By 2011, 6 million LED lighting products will be applied to municipal projects in the pilot cities, directly driving domestic demand of 15 billion yuan; by 2015, LEDs will enter 30% of the general lighting market. In fact, the country is now more than the "Ten Cities". According to the data at the end of 2010, 42 cities including Guangzhou have been included in the plan.

Getting together with street lights is "unscientific"

"If you ask me the same question now, I still hold the same opinion--to promote LED street lights must be cautious, not to be hot!" Publicly, the LED street lights poured cold water, is the representative of the People’s Congress from the Southern Power Grid, Xin Waterfall, After raising objections during the two sessions, he reiterated to the Yangcheng Evening News reporter that "can not be too hasty."

"At present, the promotion of LED street lights in various cities in China has formed a trend. Everyone thinks it is a new energy-saving technology," Xin Waterfall said. "At the same lighting intensity, LED street lights are actually not more energy efficient than high-pressure sodium lamps. Plus each The specifications of the manufacturer's LED lamps vary greatly, and it is very troublesome to maintain and replace them. Because it is not completely standardized like a high-pressure sodium lamp, it is easy to buy a replacement product after the original bulb is broken."

Xin Waterfall bluntly said: "Actually, as far as I know, these are foreign companies with LED patent technology to promote lobbying, only they have mastered the core technology of LED, if we promote large-scale domestic, the most profitable is them."

Xin Waterfall is not the first person in the industry to stop LED street lights. Chen Yansheng, chairman of China Lighting Association, repeatedly reminded “overheating” at the press conference of Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition: “LEDs are widely used, with rear projection of TV monitors, landscape lights with architectural facades, and automotive lighting. Brake lights in the middle, etc. But for street lighting, we need to know scientifically."

As an expert in the industry association, Chen Yansheng expressed his concern: “In street lighting, the main use is high-pressure sodium and high-pressure mercury. High-pressure mercury is not environmentally friendly and can be replaced. But high-pressure sodium itself is green and energy-saving. In order to develop the LED industry, many cities have always replaced all the original street lamps with LED street lamps. This is unscientific in itself."

The price is high because the standard is not uniform

The fears of Xin Waterfall and Chen Yansheng are not without reason.

For a long time, the main reason for the difficulty in LED market promotion is the high price of LED lighting products.

Kunming City has publicly opposed the installation of LED street lights. In September last year, the city used data to prove the price problem. In Kunming, the cost of installing street lamps was 15,000 yuan per piece, including lighting equipment worth about 2,000 yuan, as well as cable, installation and labor. And an LED street light, a single lighting equipment needs 5000-7000 yuan, all installed about 1.8-20,000 yuan.

The case of Kunming only stated that the installation cost of LED street lamps is high. However, there is still a large amount of accounts to be calculated. The high cost of LED street lamps and the fact that maintenance is expensive is recognized by the lighting industry. In addition to the lamp heads, there are also poles and chips. Diversified. "The most headache is maintenance, because there is no unified LED light standard. All manufacturers produce their own, self-supporting standards." An industry insider revealed, "Some LED lights are broken, looking for manufacturers to change. However, manufacturers do not necessarily produce this The model of the street lamp, and had to be replaced with the light pole. In case of poor heat dissipation, it is 'one pot end'."

"One swarm of bees" has more development concerns

“When everyone is developing the LEDs, they are staring at the 'incandescent elimination' plan.” Chen Yansheng pointed out that the European Commission proposed in March 2007 that it would phase out the incandescent lamps before the end of 2012, and China plans to do so in 2013. All incandescent lamps were eliminated before. "But, eliminating incandescent lamps does not mean replacing them with LEDs."

The development of a swarm of bees not only attracted companies that did not have any experience in producing lighting products, but also attracted the rapid transformation of traditional lighting companies. “The threshold of the industry is very low. At present, there are more than 3,000 LED lighting manufacturers in China, but 70% of them are concentrated in the downstream integrated application.” An insider who did not want to be named pointed out: According to the LED production process, LED The industry can be divided into three parts: upstream epitaxial wafer production, midstream chip manufacturing, and downstream chip packaging. Among them, the upstream and midstream technologies are high in content, the capital input density is high, and the competition is fierce, but it can account for 70% of the entire industry. “Now, high-end More than 80% of the chips come from foreign countries or Taiwan; the downstream package profit is only 10%-20%, but it is the concentration of most LED companies in our country."

"LED lighting currently does not have a unified national standard, and there is a serious phenomenon in the market. Some cottage companies rent a small factory, hire several workers, and buy accessories is a LED factory." He also pointed out that "currently, LED lighting Energy-saving subsidies are all paid by the cities themselves, so they generally prefer to subsidize local LED companies. It is also an open secret of the industry."

Even worse, the explosive growth of LEDs has brought about common problems in the detection technology and standard setting. At present, the products lack complete industry standards and standards, and the quality is not good.
