The device has reached the international advanced level in designing key technical indicators such as pressure, temperature, water depth, gas content range and measurement accuracy. Its successful development has broken the technical barriers abroad and has great practical significance for the localization of key equipment in deep sea equipment in China.

It is predicted that about 50% of the world's oil and gas resources will come from the ocean in the future. However, deepwater equipment is limited by harsh working conditions and high installation, maintenance and operation cost. The service life of key equipment in underwater production systems usually needs to be more than 20 years, which leads to many key components of deep sea equipment in China can only rely on imports. For example, the price of a single underwater flow meter is as high as several million dollars, and only four companies worldwide monopolize the international market. Moreover, the most critical sensing component based on nuclear ray sources can only rely on imports.

The underwater two-phase moisture measuring device successfully developed by Tianjin University solves this problem. The solution is to combine the ultrasonic technology with the heterogeneous venturi technology and use the speciality and advantages of the two in the moisture measurement to form a complementary. The organic integration of the differential pressure and velocity flow measurement principles is realized. In terms of structural design, the special-shaped venturi adopts the patented design structure of multi-perforation pressure and built-in annular pressure guide. At the same time, it breaks through the import of key sensing components such as pressure, temperature and differential pressure as the basic unit module of the flowmeter. The design idea greatly saves the cost. After the technology is applied to actual production, the equipment manufacturing cost can be reduced to about RMB 500,000.
