Contactors are mainly used to control motors, electric heating equipment, electric welding machines, capacitor banks, etc., and can frequently turn on or off the main AC and DC circuits to achieve remote automatic control. It has a low-voltage release protection function and is widely used in electric drive automatic control circuits.

(1) Electromagnetic mechanism: The electromagnetic mechanism is composed of a coil, a moving iron core (armature) and a static iron core.
(2) Contact system: The contact system of the AC contactor includes the main contact and the auxiliary contact. The main contact is used to make and break the main circuit, and there are 3 pairs or 4 pairs of normally open contacts; the auxiliary contact is used for the control circuit, which acts as an electrical interlock or control. There are usually two pairs of normally open and two pairs of normally closed contacts.
(3) Arc extinguishing device: contactors with a capacity of more than 10A have arc extinguishing devices. For small-capacity contactors, double-break bridge-shaped contacts are often used to facilitate arc extinguishing; for large-capacity contactors, longitudinal slit arc extinguishing covers and grid arc extinguishing structures are often used.
(4) Other components: including reaction springs, buffer springs, contact pressure springs, transmission mechanisms and housings.
The contactor is marked with terminal numbers, the coils are A1, A2, the main contacts 1, 3, and 5 are connected to the power side, and 2, 4, and 6 are connected to the load side. Auxiliary contacts are represented by two digits, the first digit is the sequence number of the auxiliary contacts, the 3 and 4 in the last digit indicate normally open contacts, and 1, 2 indicates normally closed contacts.
