Hitachi Introduces Kit for Easy Replacement of Fluorescent Lamps with Straight LED Lamps

Hitachi Electric Co., Ltd., which is engaged in the production of household appliances, air conditioners and lighting fixtures under the Hitachi Group, has been listing 110-type straight-through LED (Light Emitting Diode) lamp retrofit kits and installation kits that can replace a full set of appliances since January 20, 2012. The shape of both ends of the update kit is the same as that of the widely-used 110-type straight-tube fluorescent lamp, and it can be easily replaced with an LED lamp using an existing appliance.

The update kit sets the way to fix the LED lamp using the lamp of the existing appliance and supply power through the wire, and to change the lamp cap to a special lamp holder for the LED lamp. LED lights use automatic dimming and heat dissipation design to save energy. The average power consumption of dual-lamp appliances is 124W, which is a 45% reduction compared with fluorescent light appliances. The life of the LED lamp is 40,000 hours, which is about 3 times that of a fluorescent lamp, which can reduce the maintenance and management burden.

When using an existing fluorescent lamp to switch to LED lighting, it is possible to mistakenly connect the fluorescent lamp to the lamp head, and there is a certain degree of danger. Therefore, Hitachi adopted an external power supply method. The two ends of the LED lamp are only used for fixing on the lamp base, and the power supply part is additionally provided to ensure safety. Instead of using existing fluorescent lamps, there are altogether 6 models for the replacement of a full set of appliances, and 10 models are available.
