Texas Instruments (TI) today announced a new generation of automotive LED drivers that are AEC-Q100 compliant, with a wide range of features to support the industry's highest voltage rating, thermal shutdown protection, and optimized electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performance. In harsh automotive environments, electronic equipment must withstand high temperatures, high voltage transients, and electromagnetic interference.
The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 are monolithic medium voltage low current 8-bit/12-bit shift registers for systems requiring relatively moderate load power such as LEDs. The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 are designed for automotive dashboard applications to meet the needs of driving motion analyzer warning lights, instrument panels, and LED lighting and control applications.
Main features and advantages of TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1:
Maximum Rated Voltage: The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 achieve a maximum voltage rating of up to 40V on all outputs. Helps the TLC6C598-Q1 power up to eight strings of LEDs, and the TLC6C5912-Q1 powers up to 12 strings of LEDs that are directly connected to the car battery;
Thermal Shutdown Protection: The TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 provide self-protection for power consumption that provides better long-term reliability when the device requires low temperatures and high temperatures;
Optimized EMC performance: TLC6C598-Q1 and TLC6C5912-Q1 control and optimize the rise and fall times of the output to reduce electromagnetic emissions.
Texas Instruments currently offers simulation models for TLC6C598-Q1 and simulation models for TLC6C5912-Q1. In addition, synchronization provides reference designs, schematic lists, and application notes.
It is understood that the TLC6C598-Q1 with SOIC-D and TSSOP-PW16 pin packages is available now. Synchronously available is the TLC6C5912-Q1 in both SOIC and TSSOP20 pin packages.
